Endurance Training

If you have ever trained for a triathlon, marathon, or some other endurance event, you may have noticed that training using traditional long, slow distance (LSD) methods takes up a LOT of time. On top of all the hours out on the road and away from the family, this type of training can also be counterproductive at times-ever been injured while training? As our name implies, we here at CrossFit Race are very active in training and racing. We utilize CrossFit Endurance programming to prepare for our races, and it has worked to great effect. The basic idea behind what we do to train is that shorter duration, high intensity interval training (anaerobic training) is just as, if not more, effective at building endurance and stamina as LSD training. In short, you can get ready for your events while spending less time out on the road!

Free Session

Are you still not convinced that CrossFit programming is right for you? Not convinced that CrossFit will make you better at every single endeavor in life you undertake? Then why not come down and give it a shot? Come in for a free introductory training session, and we will show you what we’re all about at CrossFit Race. First and foremost, we will spend some time discussing why constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity are the perfect prescription for life. We will also demonstrate and coach you through some of the basic movements we utilize in our programming. To cap it off, we will tailor a workout to your ability level that will challenge you mentally and physically.

One of two things will probably happen: One, you will lie on the ground at the end of your workout wallowing in the sweet endorphin rush that accompanies a supreme effort and decide, “This is where I belong!” Or, two, you might think that we’re all just crazy here at CrossFit Race and bolt for the nearest exit. Either way, you’ll walk (or run) away with at least a great story to tell your friends.

Fun and training hard can go hand in hand.  Believe it!

Our goal at Wasatch CrossFit Race is to bring real fitness to as many people as possible. In the last few years we've learned two things: Fitness comes from hard work and clean eating. That's it. There's no magic pill. We've seen people accomplish amazing things with just a few weeks of strict eating and training and now you're invited to join us. It's your turn to see great results!
Frequently Asked Questions:

How much is is it?  Free!  You'll get 2 weeks of sessions with the best coaches in Utah, at home and running workouts programmed for you for free, plus a guide to eating right that includes 6 weeks of meal plans, grocery shopping lists, menus, and all of the science behind eating right.  By the way, we don't believe in yo-yo diets.  Just in healthy lifestyle changes that work long term.  We'll also be doing a free nutrition presentation for you.

Where do I register?  At the bottom of this page below the picture of Coach Adrian from WCHFQ climbing the rope.

What kind of results can I expect?  It depends on if you do the program. If you show up to every session, do the optional Friday and Saturday workouts, and make the commitment to follow a strict eating plan for 2 weeks then we can promise you'll shed some pounds, lean out, and be amazed at what you can accomplish in a few short weeks.

Are you going to yell at me?  We're experts in positive motivation. We'll push you to be your best but there won't be any in your face yelling. We believe that real fitness is a lifelong thing, who wants to be yelled out for the rest of their life?

How long is each session?  45 minutes to an hour.  Come dressed to workout and bring a bottle of water and a towel or yoga mat.

I'm not in very good shape, is this for me?  In the past 6 years we've trained people who were more than 100lbs overweight, coming back from recently giving birth, or who hadn't worked out in over 10 years. The workouts will be scalable so that everyone can do them.  If the hardest thing you've done in the last year is sprint from the couch to the fridge so you didn't miss your favorite commercial we're ready to help you take the first step to reclaiming your fitness!

Is there a minimum age?  16 and up please. Any minors must have waivers signed by their parents.

I'm in great shape, is this for me?  Yes. We've trained everyone from professional athletes, collegiate athletes, and operators training to go hunt terrorists in the Middle East. We can push you as hard as you're ready for.

I'm ready to sign up for CrossFit right now, do I have to do the Boot Camp first?  No.  If you're ready to sign up right now you can enroll directly into CrossFit at either of our locations and you'll get a special deal on your first month.  Call me directly and we'll take care of you.

Is space limited?  Yes! We pride ourselves on offering quality training and will be limiting enrollment to make sure you get the attention you deserve.

Are there men?  Haha.  Yes.  Some people want to lose weight, some want to gain muscle.  We're great at helping you with both.  While you probably won't be climbing a rope at the CrossFit Games like Coach Adrian is below, if you stick with us you'll get stronger, leaner, and more powerful.  Maybe even be able to leap tall building with a single bound (no guarantees though.)

What should you be eating to maximize your body’s potential? There are seemingly a million schools of thought out there on this subject, but thousands of CrossFit athletes and non-athletes alike have whittled the field down to a couple of proven methodologies.

  • Paleo

You may have heard the term before and wondered why anybody would be crazy enough to “eat like a caveman”. The truth is our bodies simply were not designed to handle the constant barrage of carbohydrates that the old-fashioned government food pyramid told us we should be eating. People who have made the switch to the Paleo diet report having more energy all day, almost never getting sick, and looking better than ever. If you want a diet that will lead to easy weight loss without feeling hungry all the time, this is the lifestyle to adopt. To get the best information about this diet, check out Robb Wolf’s website:

  • Primal

Very similar to the Paleo diet, the idea of eating and even living (to an extent) like our Primal ancestors was proposed by a man named Mark Sisson. His book, “The Primal Blueprint”, outlines a fantastic way to eat in order to lose unwanted fat effortlessly while maintaining energy levels throughout the day. Even those who have no need to lose pounds find themselves feeling better than ever eating this way. For more information about this lifestyle, check out Sisson’s page at He’s got a ton of free and very useful information on this website.

On Ramp

If you have never tried CrossFit before, we need to get you up to speed! The last thing we want to see is anybody getting injured using our program. Our OnRamp program will get you to the point where you have a good enough understanding of the basic movements and methodologies of the program to jump into a group class. The OnRamp course is 4 classes, one hour each. You will first learn basic movements and then do a workout involving those movements while a coach watches and teaches you every step of the way. Remember, these workouts will be SCALED. We recognize that each individual is different and that everyone has different levels of fitness. We will ensure that your workouts match your level of fitness so that you are ready and even excited to come back for the next class!

If you’re ready to take your fitness to a new level, fill out the following forms and bring them in with you on your first visit. That way, we can jump into the class without spending too much time on the minor details.

Welcome to CrossFit Race

CrossFit Race is the culmination of a dream that began more than three years ago. When we started CrossFitting in a tiny, cramped space on our military installation, all we could think about was opening our own space and sharing what we love with everyone around us. Way before we had the opportunity to do this on a professional basis, we started dragging all of our friends and anybody who would listen to the gym with us to show them how well the program works. What transpired from those early sessions was amazing. CrossFit got us all in better shape, of course, but what we found was something more…a community. We loved getting in better shape to carry out our mission, but what we loved even more was doing it together. We want to share that type of experience with everybody who walks through our doors.

Is CrossFit for Me?

The quick answer: an unequivocal yes! We have trained with every type of person-young, old, athletic, and complete novices alike. If you can’t do a pull-up, we will help you reach that milestone and surpass it. If you want to run a marathon, we can help get you there without injury. If you just want to be in shape for the daily trials of life, we understand that, too. Here you will find an environment conducive to reaching any goal you have, with coaches who understand your needs and are here to tailor the program to fit your abilities. You will find a community genuinely excited to see you reach those goals and support you every step of the way. Simply put, this program is for EVERYONE!

What is CrossFit

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.
